Honfleur, France

Wednesday, 15 January 2025

I am a massive fan of old buildings. I don't know what it is about them (and they can be hard work), but I’ve always been captivated by their charm. I think it might also have to do with my love of history and learning about it. Give me a history book and a comfortable place to sit, and I’m content to be left on my own for hours!

A few years ago, on my way to Germany with my husband, we stopped by Claude Monet’s home and drove past the beautiful city of Honfleur. To my regret, we didn’t stop to explore it. I thought we’d do so on the way back, but... we ended up taking a different route. Now, visiting Honfleur will have to wait. I suppose this gives me another excuse to drive there?

I absolutely love visiting France and driving through its picturesque countryside. Usually, we stop for a picnic with French olives, baguette, cucumbers, and tomatoes. It’s a very simple meal, but oh, so tasty and I highly recommend it! Picnic in France on a hot summer day is just heavenly.
