I’ve always been drawn to colour — in buildings, in clothes, in the everyday things that bring a space to life. My home is a tapestry of vibrant greens, sunshine yellows, and rich reds, each shade adding warmth and personality to the rooms I live in. Whilst I’m a great admirer of the wabi-sabi movement and the quiet elegance of minimalism, I’ve never believed that simplicity must mean absence of colour. To me, the two can coexist beautifully.
Perhaps it’s the Indian heritage in me that pulls me towards bold, joyful hues. I grew up in a home where my parents’ garden overflowed with blooms — marigolds, hibiscus, bougainvillaea — a riot of colour that seemed to hum with life. Those early memories have shaped how I see beauty now. I do appreciate the serenity of all-white interiors, but personally, I need colour around me. It makes a space feel alive, layered with warmth and memory.
